Product Details

The Practical Driving Course (PDC) is a mandatory training program implemented by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the Philippines. It is designed to equip aspiring drivers with essential skills and knowledge for safe and responsible driving. Completion of the PDC is a prerequisite for obtaining a driver’s license in the country.

Key Aspects of the Practical Driving Course:

• Eligibility: Individuals aged 17 and above, holding a valid student permit or driver’s license, are eligible to enroll in the PDC.

• Course Content: The PDC encompasses hands-on driving sessions that cover various aspects of vehicle operation, including starting and stopping, steering control, parking techniques, and adherence to traffic rules. The course aims to develop defensive driving habits and ensure preparedness for real-world driving scenarios.

• Duration: The standard duration of the PDC is eight hours. However, the total number of hours may vary based on the individual’s driving experience and the specific requirements of the driving school.

• Accredited Providers: The PDC must be undertaken at LTO-accredited driving schools or LTO Driver Education Centers (DECs). These institutions are authorized to conduct the course and issue the necessary certification upon completion.

• Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a PDC certificate. This certificate is a mandatory requirement when applying for a new driver’s license or adding restriction codes to an existing one.

Enrollment Process:

1. Schedule Selection: Prospective learners should check available PDC schedules at LTO-accredited driving schools or DECs and reserve a slot that fits their availability.

2. Enrollment: Complete the enrollment process by submitting the necessary documents, such as a valid student permit or driver’s license, and paying the applicable fees.

3. Course Attendance: Attend and actively participate in all scheduled practical driving sessions, ensuring completion of the required driving hours.

4. Assessment: Undergo evaluations conducted by certified driving instructors to assess driving competencies.

5. Certification: Upon meeting all course requirements and passing assessments, receive the PDC certificate, which will be uploaded to the LTO system.

It’s important to note that the PDC is distinct from the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC), which focuses on the principles and laws of driving. Both courses are integral components of the LTO’s driver education program, aiming to promote road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents in the Philippines.
